i mean what is $800 Australian in American dollars?
the reason i bring up the next GPU client is b/c i've heard it will be better with ATI cards than the current client. now i'm not sure if the ATI cards will pass nvidia or not though (i doubt it, but i'm just not sure).
right now intel is better than amd for folding, but that doesn't mean you can't fold with it.
with intel, if you go with let's say an i3 or i5 processor, you can always upgrade later. but keep in mind that i3, i5, and i7 860 use a different socket than the i7 920/930 and up.
Ahh stuff it I will spend roughly 900-1100 US dollars, so if you had that kind of money what would you get, don't need a screen, nor Windows 7. I appreciate your thought and help.

Another "effect" of this deep discounting, for me at least, is I now regret buying Applecare for my iPad1. Only adds one year of warranty (not 2 years like computers) and increased my investment by $80. I figured it would give me a edge in resale but looks like resale for my $910 iPad has dropped way down.
Most likely I'll sell it six months from now and just wait and see what's happening a year from now. Truth be told I'm disappointed in how hard iOS makes exchanging files between applications, really makes doing work harder than it could be. Good for surfing, news, and entertainment, but not for the way I like to work.

i think it's been cool for the couple of "design" documents i've done with it. i made a fake newspaper and a form for work. i'm happy with it but i'm not trying to do anything too complex either.

Very skillful in how Jobs face and legs are hidden. Im beginning to think the newspapers are right about his condition.
Also, pretty tasteless to dress the way he does. I'm not a fan of Obama, but if I were to meet him and sit next to him for dinner, I would respect the office enough not no dress in freakin' turtle neck.

Considering how nearly all of those CEOs are solidly in the tank for Obama, and given how increasingly unpopular B. Hussein is becoming, his presidential re-election and prostrating himself for campaign contributions was likely the top priority.
Oh ... after prawn and champagne, there might have been some idle talk of technology and Jobs.
Conclusion? All that "genius" and not one of them cares about U.S. history and the dangers in repeating its mistakes. It's a shame that wealth has blinded nearly all of them to the danger of statism. It's too bad the innovation by this small, powerful, (and ideologically ignorant) group of elitists is restricted to technology.
The rest of the country is hurting. Gas and food prices rising, housing market crippled, jobless rate still 10%, bailout after bailout, billions and billions spent on a failed "stimulus" that did nothing but line Obama cronies' pockets, a health care "overhaul" that will obliterate not only the health care in the U.S., but the rest of the economy with it, US foreign policy incompetent, our troops' hands tied in Afghanistan - with no directive to really win there. Oh yeah ... give us 4 more years of this? Pass the caviar, Steve. :eek:
And there they sit ... Cheers to the community organizer-in-chief! How about we focus on the cancer that affects more than just Apple stock. No ... not Steve Jobs' illness. Something far more virulent ... America's. The blight of liberalism. Awesome, I love it! I want to sign up for .Mac so bad, but I can't justify it being worth $99 per year. I would gladly pay $49 per year, especially since I would use iWeb, Photocasting, and all the other good stuff.
$8.25 a month is too much to keep multiple computers in sync? That alone is worth $8.25/month for me. I hardly use the .mac Mail, and rarely even the iDisk (although it's nice to have). The syncing of bookmarks and address book is mindlessly easy, and invaluable for me.

I think what we are all seeing is that the differentiating factor between Apple and "the others" is no longer software. Windows 7 is now good enough that it can easily compete with (and in many areas, exceed) the software offering on any Mac.
It's now down to hardware manufacturers to do the work to bring their machines up to a standard to match the OS. From what I've seen Dell have been making significant improvements in recent months and years and Lenovo still exudes quality.
Three or four years ago I wouldn't have considered anything that wasn't made by Apple. But now I'd definitely look at a Windows machine first when replacing my desktop and I'd give some Windows laptops a lot of consideration as well.
Unless I went iMac I would never go Apple for a desktop. I think Windows is better than OS X unless taking into account the benefits of a MBP+OS X in terms of power management/trackpad. Add the cost of a MP and forget it. Laptops they still have the best balance between design, specs, and quality as well as nice battery life in OS X.
Their MBP prices still need to come down a lot before I could ever bring myself to pay the premium though.
