i don't think we can do 'pass it on' thing on this forum. but we do need more involvement.

i know a lot of people on this forum have some very nice computer power. and i'm sure they do use them 24/7 either. we could be a great team. i'm doing all i can already

Thats great, I'm doing all I can to at the moment. Might not be able to cope with all that PPD as it is a laptop doing it all :D My goal is to get to 100k in points then to get into the top 100 :)

Remember all those who join, team number is 3446.

It looks to me they ARE basically killing server...

From what I see they are migrating the server features they've built in the past into an optional module for the base OS. (like Ubuntu vs Ubuntu Server, server is just additional software.)

We all know MAC can't compete with Hardware, but we have some of the best programs on the market. That is how Steve going to use it for his ads campaign.

I read article at macworld.com the other, Apple will never make OS for PC. Check out this article: http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/0209/11.haddad.php

I am not complaining with the speed of the new Powermac, but I wouldn't mind to be faster. Faster is always better.

With ipod release for PC. Apple will make tons of money. And maybe use that money and invest in developing new Hardware.

Anybody has a stat. sell of Gateway Profile 4 and Apple imac? I want to see who is winning...

It's always depressing to see someone else succeed at such an obvious idea. Maybe next time...

The idea is nothing. The kid obviously put time and effort into finding a decent supplier at a low price, marketing, web development. Hats off to him.

If you think you can develop a good idea then go ahead and try, there's loads here: www.ideaaday.org (http://ideaaday.org/)

Do me a favour and PM me so I can track your progress.

    I don't think so.

I think clear photo's showing calipers proves they are the same.

The poor photo's with zero depth of field and a stick off the side to compare thickness doesn't cut it.

Get them to put the calipers to it.

Some Apple big guy says don't believe all the junk your read, and that clinches it for me. It's pretty much an Apple statement telling you that they are the same.

So you still believe engadget on this?

(if there is some production issue like a swelling lipo battery, then I could see thickness issues, but it's a huge mistake if they made it different thickness. What the heck would I do with my iPhone4 dock?)

tipb used calipers and found a difference. Otterbox also says there are compatibility issues. They're in the business of selling cases, they wouldn't tell customers not to buy them for no reason. If it's not supposed to be thicker, then there are a few possibilities I can think of:

    1) There was a bad batch that went around. The white iPhone certainly seemed to have its hiccups - many of them came a with a test version of the OS

    2) Apple revised *all* iPhone 4s, and the only reason people are noticing a difference is because they compared to a near launch phone. It'd be interesting to compare a black one from the same week.

I paid $4.19 for the cheap stuff but I didn't see the prices posted anywhere.

Heck, what can you expect from a small rural town with few signs for anything? But I expected something above four bucks and on its way to $4.50 a gallon for regular unleaded.

NTSC video is 720x480 whether it's 4:3 or 16:9, it just uses a Pixel Aspect Ratio to squeeze or stretch it on playout to 640x480 (4:3) or 854x480 (16:9).

Stick with 720x480 (until it's time to output for the web, at which point a square PAR is sensible). In Streamclip you can specify the aspect ratio but I'm not sure whether this ends up as a tag in the transcoded video or not...

I don't think the number of clicks is the best metric here. If there are hundreds of articles in a category, it takes a long time to skim through the list of them. If you can spend a few extra seconds narrowing down what you're looking for, it can be much faster to find something.

I believe from a usability perspective getting it down to 5 clicks is good enough, and 3 ideal so certainly sub sub categories would work.

A solution is a solution no matter whether it's the Command Line or a GUI, besides that, a lot of apps also have a CLI equivalent, Property List Editor and defaults, Disk Utility and diskutil, Automator and automator, etc. So clearly articles involving Disk Utility would also need to include diskutil, and Automator would need to include it's CLI equivalent...

That can be included as a "see also" link at the bottom of the article.

I would class a CLI app as anything that has to be run in Terminal/X11 and you can't just double click an icon to load the program (as you do with MATLAB)

OK, let's take this one small step at a time and see what we've come up with.

Option 1 looks better, option 2 is trying to use too few categories IMO.

One possibility for a way forward would be to create a new category called BetaMainPage and then create categories called BetaMac Hardware or whatever and see if it works.

EDIT: I don't know if it'd be better to do this publicly or privately...

I'm fairly certain AirPlay is actually a standard that Apple has licensed from another company which is why there were already a few receivers on the market that supported or could be updated to support AirPlay.

// edit never mind. Misremembered an article where a company had already gained access to AirPlay streaming protocols.

I am amazed to recently discover Mac owners pay more on average to keep the most current OS running on their box, even though OS X is cheaper (by about $70) than comparative Windows releases.

Spending $400 on Vista Ultimate Edition makes up the difference. :) Although the operative phrase here is "most current OS running on their box"--the most current Windows is six years old, so if people want to complain that it costs more money to keep up with modern OS updates than it does to have no major OS updates at all for over half a decade, that's not exactly something I consider a negative.

And your piss poor Mac support for all of your devices, awful (if non-existant) syncing and overpriced proprietary maps. You have promised mac apps for years and have always failed to deliver.

You still suck. Even with your iPhone app.

Ill agree with you on Lack of Education and Religious Extremism. Resentment, somewhat. I tend to think that if we just leave them the heck alone to do whatever they want and be as Shariah as they please we will see less terror attempts.
Terrorism typically arises from some sort of injustice. I think there is some truth to the clich "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." But "leaving them alone" is somewhat problematic as long as we support multinational enterprise that seeks to extract maximum profit in every corner of the world. Even if the business s not based in America, America is the most prominent target.
I know it is not apples-to-apples, but I was wondering if anyone has seen the National Geographic on North Korea? One part that struck my nerve was at the end when the doctors were removing the bandages from the patients eyes, one of the North Koreans first thing to do was go praise a poster of Ill and promise to "Destroy the american scum with my new eyes" or something like that, despite the fact that much of the equipment used to complete the surgeries was American made and American funded IIRC.

Most likely, the government expects this sort of show of loyalty, when they are paying for your treatment. If you do not do this, you would probably labeled as seditiously ungrateful and they would find some way to make your life miserable.

This gave me the idea of a combined AppleCare plan. Since Apple is pitching their mobile computing products in three major categories: iPhone, iPad, and MacBook - it would be really cool to offer a combined AC plan for two or all three categories.

Like I have a iPhone and a MacBook - wouldn't it be neat to be able to buy a hybrid plan that would be about $20 to $30 cheaper than buying them individually?

I say its time we overthrow the republicans and democrats and start a party which is ANTI-CORPORATIONS and is for the people and by the people.. Who's with me?

And that will last until the new party gets its first corporate donation...

    Not that I'm a cynic.

And what's with this rhetoric? "overthrow"? Really? And you do realize you just Goodwin-ed this discussion...

Is there shown any RAW cameras supported in 1.5 that weren't in the current version? I wasn't up on that since mine was supported and that's all that mattered to me, but if there are new camera's supported it would point to 10.4.8 to be released later this week too.
the 'what's new' page says "Work with RAW images from more than 50 camera models, including the Fuji S2, Fuji S3 Pro, and Sony A100." but i don't know which ones exactly .. i know the Fujis are new because i have the S9000/9500 which is still not supported and it didn't support any Fujis before

I just hope the republicans find a good candidate because I really don't want Obama back in office.

Why? How could a Republican possibly be any kind of improvement? The last Republican president really lowered the bar, and the current president has imperceptibly raised it, it can only get worse. Either way, really.
