At 2am ET my AT&T iPhone 3GS fell back to 1am instead of jumping forward to 3am. Now, it is saying 10:14am when it should be saying 11:14am. So, still broke. It is set to "set automatically" in preferences for date and time.

Same here except iPhone 4 w/ the 4.3 update. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Wouldn't it be lovely if the new iPhones ship with 32 gb (as the base phone) and 64 gb (as the higher capacity phone)?

    One could hope...

Microsoft is a Apple developer. I doubt the super secret features are included. When it turns Beta then the super secret features will be added and publicly exposed by Apple. My guess is November but no later than January.

I hope all the features of IOS 5 will be supported on Iphone 4. I am in a 2 year contract right now and will have to wait till Iphone 6 comes out to get a new handset.

I know I can sell my current iphone 4 and get the iphone 5, but if all the features of IOS 5 be supported on iphone 4, i wont bother. Its too much hassle lol.

Then again what are the chances of Iphone 5 being a speed bump like 3G to 3GS?

If you ask me, it's pretty clear Apple will update all of its laptops before the holiday season. I personally can't wait to buy a new MB, because my 600 MHz G3 iMac is getting a bit sluggish. My question is this: Will it be a simple CPU upgrade, or will Apple change pricing and/or other hardware (such as HD capacity, RAM, etc.)? Oh, and how long do I have to wait?
It's pretty clear that Apple will not be releasing to laptops before the holiday season. Laptops just aren't the typical gift. They are in the wrong price range.

Don't be surprised to see iTV sooner than later or the long waited video iPod.

Expect the new revised Mac Book Pro in January, featuring a redesigned enclosure and keyboard.

Sorry, but that the way it is.

I just uploaded version 0.4b. (see first post)

You can now see more data (if you wish) on your and team efforts.
I don't like how it looks now - the big version, that will be addressed later. When I redesign it, i will also leave out the 'title' (FoldingTracker), it's not really needed and leaving it out would make it smaller.

Thx for all the feedback so far chaps.

If someone is going to specifically test disk read/write speeds then one needs to also look into and see if the SSD is the Toshiba or Samsung model. I for one have the Samsung model and scored higher on the disk test then his model.

+1 for at least testing a MBA with 4 gigs of ram.

The effect of terrorists to the West is enormously magnified by our reaction to them. How many Western deaths have been caused through terrorism in the last 15 years. 5000? Probably less than 200 in the last 5 years.

How many soldiers have been killed in subsequent wars? Over 7000 (http://icasualties.org/).
How many civilians have been killed in these wars? 100s of thousands.
And how much are we spending on this? What is the 'opportunity cost' of that lost cash - which could have been spent on health care/research/education?

I think we need to learn to ignore the 'short game' of small terrorist outrages and instead concentrate on the 'long game', which the West is undoubtably winning.

Terrorists represent a tiny proportion of radicals, that bubble to the surface of large populations of unhappy, poor and repressed people. Those underlying populations are changing though... all across North Africa and the Arab world people are mobilising to gain democracy, spurred on by the slow liberalising Western influence of open communication technologies and culture. This 'long game' political change is MUCH more significant than OBL's death.

Take away the unhappy cultures that breed terrorists won't completely remove risk - but it will make terrorism more the action of criminals, and less of a 'clash of cultures'. Smart Western political leadership would sell terrorist outrages as 'random acts of criminal radicals' not 'we must go to war with the axis of evil'.

All Obama has to do is decide whether he can afford to stop propping up the US military industrial complex.

We're losing as long as we are spending ourselves into oblivion to fight this threat.

    1. Apple is an American company. Their products get released in the US first. The US market is and should remain their primary concern. If the US is going to LTE, that's where Apple needs to go.

    2. Apple innovates. It's what they do. Innovate a way to offer LTE with acceptable battery life.

    3. Processor speed for phones is overrated, especially when apps are written to account for legacy hardware in the wild. No one is going to write an A-5 only App as long as the iPad 1, iPhone 4 & 3GS level tech remains so widely held.

    1. I believe Apple wants the best for their US and Non-US customers, you guys should stop differentiate yourselves from the rest of the world, you are not any special than us. No offence.

    2. From the last financial report Q&A:

Q: How do you think of the maturity of LTE? And Apple's sense of urgency to get products out?
A: I was asked this question when we launched the iPhone with Verizon. The first generation of LTE chipsets forced a lot of design compromises. Some of those we are just not willing to make. We are extremely happy with the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 3GS. And hitting 18.6 million units was something much larger than we thought we could do this quarter. And to 3 more large carriers.

Innovating worth nothing if done wrong. I didn't say Apple will never adopt it. I said it might not be the best time at the moment. This statement from Apple seems in line with what I said.

    3. This is the exact same thing that I said earlier:
when people will realize that computer usability lies in the software and not the hardware?
You say processor speed is overrated, that the actual iPhone are good enough, yet you disagree on LTE/4G to not be implemented this year? Isn't 3G good enough?
You say in two years time bla bla I'd wish I had 4G on my current iPhone, and why wouldn't I wish for a better processor? Make up your mind.

LTE coverage is already decent in the US thanks to verizon's aggressive rollout. They already cover 110 million Americans (over a third). They'll be in 145 markets by year's end, covering well over half of the US. Full coverage by 2013.

    http://news.vzw.com/LTE/Overview.html

Immaterial. Package size is not directly proportional to die size as any sort of general rule. You also presume the iPhone 4's PCB is so dense it couldn't handle a larger package (if needed). All speculation on your part.

The battery is the same rating (25 whr) and the device gets the same (if not better in some tests) battery life than the iPad 1. Debunked.

Unsubstantiated claims followed by baseless speculation.

Of course mine are speculation, I brought the argument up because I'd like to hear someone else's opinion.
Rumors are saying the next iPhone iteration could be having the same package of the current iPhone. I'm bringing two facts up, the A5 die is bigger then the A4 as both are 45nm. And at the iPad2 keynote they said how could they manage to get the same hours of battery life with a much powerful processor, the answer was that their engineer had a workaround - later to be found an additional pack of battery.

Considered this I think that Apple will redesign the internals of the new iteration if they are going to use the same package.

About the network, this: Full coverage by 2013.
Second of all: Verizon. What about AT&T?
Third and I repeat this, you guys should not be considered special compared to the rest of the world.
The fact that Apple used GSM technology for the first iPhone was infact that they could rollout their product to other countries as CDMA is not adopted as much as GSM worldwide. The same applies to LTE/4G. There is no reason of adding hardware that can be adopted by a quarter of the customers if not less that that. It's a waste of money in design and implementation, let alone that even Apple is not willing to make the leap with compromise that are not willing to make by adopting this fairly new technology.

Hard not to see the iPad 2 as a great product, even for CU. I'm surprised they didn't find something that would prevent them from recommending it.

Why? Because their honesty in reporting offends fanbois when they disagree?

Omg with no laptop updates, I'd like to watch as Apple's laptop sales tumble. Already the Apple Store dropped their MacBook shipping days down to 3-5 days (nobody wants it).

Whatever. I'm sure they'll be hurt because you're running the world.

The updates are about 3 weeks away.

Nice thought by TimeWarner. However, the stations that people want to watch weren't on the first run of the app and now they have removed any remaining ones that were interesting.

This app will go nowhere. And TimeWarner certainly isn't innocent in this little battle. They love to put the stations on the bad guy side of the ledger. As a customer, I'm not drinking their koolaid.

The combined line-in/out jack on the newest Macs certainly DOES supply a small amount of power for the mic built into the iPhone headphones. The separate line in port on older Macs doesn't, but the headphone port does supply power (on my 2009 MBP at least). It's not the same amount of power as the mic port on PCs, but it's similar. The mic on an analogue headset designed for a PC has never worked on a Mac. The old Plaintalk mics back in the beige Mac days used to have a really long connector, so the tip would touch the power part of the socket in the Mac.

Once again, I was never talking about the audio out port that also has mic capabilities for iPhone headsets that there are very few of. I was talking about the line-in jack that is useless and does not support power for a typical headset.

Somehow I was expecting to see a lot more praise and excitement for the 3DS after it launched....

The 3D effect seems to trigger mixed reactions. Other than that...there really doesn't seem to be anything truly exciting about it? I don't see any "wow, those graphics!!" or "holy cow, this thing is fast/powerful" type comments.

The general vibe I am getting from here and other places is more like "pretty neat", rather than "wow, so awesome".

    Devil's Advocate:

I bought a Netbook Holiday Special ($199 normally $399 with ATI chip and graphics and Win 7 Home Premium) from the MS Store last Dec.

MS took off the manufacturer's build (with tons of bloat-ware) and put their own on. It included a lot MS of extras (photo, video editing, music editor - sounding familiar?) and their premium Anti-Virus with lifetime subscription.

When it booted, it only asked for my username and the type of network to connect to (again - familiar? LOL)

I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever...

    Just food for thought...

The 3G graph just shows how ignorant people are when choosing between ATT and Verizon.

ATT has the fastest 3G network
ATT has GSM, the standard chipset around the globe

Dropped calls and data plan are not the same thing

All this equals that people are ignorant

I bought a Verizon iPad because I have an AT&T iPhone. I figured that if one doesn't work, the other will. I saw no need to get two devices on the same network.

But go ahead, explain to me why that's stupid, since I clearly don't get it and I'm ignorant.
